For longer than I've kept this blog, I've been curious about living in Brevard. After a weekend of moving, the reality is sinking in: Brevard is our new home. Lily is in Charlotte all week to train for her new teaching job. Meanwhile I'm testing out a carefully crafted lifestyle: everything I need access to is within one mile (or less) of our house, including a new network of trails. Bracken Mountain provides convenient access to 400+ miles of trails in Pisgah from town. Although the official grand opening isn't for another 10 days, Uwharrie and I have already gotten up there a couple times including one trip to the summit of Cedar Rock last evening. So far, so good!

i remember when the subcommandante and i used to "poach" those trails from the house and try to connect them up with the network off of cathy's creek road. we found a route from town up to art loeb and back to town via camp carolina. there is so much up there that went unused for so long. glad you are going to get a chance to enjoy them. next time we see each other, we'll have to rap over some routes.
