It's been a rainy two weeks. The rePEAL and other AT planning got moved to the back burner. I spent a good amount of time on my first quasi-commercial sewing project: three tarp tents based off of a versatile design that Lily and I have enjoyed over the years. My grandfather passed away on April 30th. Lily and I travelled to FL to celebrate his extraordinary life together with family. His obituary can be found here.

Matt,

Sounds like you've been slaving away at the sewing machine-- Sewing identical items is always monotonous! Sorry to hear about your grandfather. What a wonderful life he had though! I enjoyed reading his obituary.

I'm sure your grandfather was a great man. That was a very well-written obituary. I'm sorry for your loss.

Good luck on all the AT prep. When are you starting?

Caleb, Adam, thanks for your comments. Start date TBD. Sometime in (mid?) June... maybe.

How did the 20 min elevated foot rests work out?

Can't remember, is it going to be NOBO or SOBO? I understand that you're going self-supported, but it would be cool to bump into you in the Whites.

Hey Jeff, this is going to be a SOBO. The (barefoot) elevated foot rests definitely helped, especially given how wet and muddy the trail conditions were. I definitely recommend it. What's been your take on the trail conditions up your way?

still a little snow in the Whites right now, but that will be gone soon. Other than that, it all depends on how much it rains just before you get there. Do you have a start date planned yet?
